YEAH!! for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday and I think Sawyer enjoyed his first Thanksgiving! Even though Ryan didn't get any sleep due to a crazy tooth! We all ate the traditional meal at mom's and Sawyer of course is spoiled rotten now. Why would any kid be rotten after being allowed to sit in the middle of the table and eat off every one's dessert plate! All the kids went to our traditional movie Thursday night - Enchanted. We redeemed ourselves from last year's horrible movie! Then spent the rest of the time helping mom and dad pack. Caldwell here we come!

Little Stinker

So... Sunday night I was talking to mom and dad on the phone and I could smell Sawyer. So, I asked Ryan to go change him. While they were in the bedroom I got off the phone and continued to cook. As I walked into the living room I saw something on the floor that I didn't remember being there. In the middle of turning around I realized what it was before I looked at it again! Yes, a ball of Sawyer's diaper contents rolled out of his diaper, down his pants leg, and onto the floor!!!!! We have no idea how it happened because he didn't have any residue on his leg or his pants! I have never laughed so hard!!! I took a picture of it but Ryan said it would be inappropriate to post it on the blog!

How Time Flies

Sawyer is now nine months old! I can't believe how fast time is flying and how quickly he is learning new things. just in the past couple of weeks he is waving bye on command, sitting on his knees to play, getting more teeth, crawling away from us very quickly when we're trying to take something away from him, and attempting to stand without holding something for balance. I can't even keep up with everything he is doing.

Last week Jada turned 1. I can't believe it's been a year since we found out about her! Now we can't imagine not having her around. Sawyer loves playing with her so much. they both get very excited when they see each other.

Last weekend was OBU Homecoming and the whole crew, minus a few who we missed very much Ginny- Cindy- Amber, went to the cabin again. This year there were many kids and babies. Jared mentioned several times that the dynamics have really changed in the past couple of years! It was fun to watch all of them interact together!

Several times at the cabin people mentioned "I can't believe I'm 30 now", or "I can't believe I'm almost 30". I think I'm kind of liking this getting older thing. I can't stop it so I might as well enjoy it! So, for all you 30 haters- Yeahhhh for 30!

On the Move...constantly

There isn't much down time these days. When Sawyer is awake he is constantly climibing, crawling, rolling, banging, anything that ends in "ing". we have had a lot of fun watching him explore and pull up. Today he crawled on top of Ryan's Gatorade to get into the chair. He also thinks that he can bale off of whatever he is on top of and that's just fine. So, right now his face is covered in bruises! He now has two teeth and wants to walk because Jada walks! I love watching him change and grow. He's almost 9 months and I've almost forgotten what he was like as a newborn, you know those days that I thought I was going to have a very laid back- easy going little boy - nope!

New Adventures

Things are really moving at our house, literally! Sawyer is now 7 months old and he decided this was a good time to start crawling! My heart ached when that sweet little boy took off on his hands and knees because that passive-just sit and watch the world- personality is quickly "crawling" away. I have to say that being a mother is more fun than I could have ever imagined. What an ADVENTURE!

Busting at the Seams

It's been quite exciting around here these last couple of weeks. Ian Jordan Hillman finally arrived. Now there are 5 Hillman grandkids in 2 1/2 years. There are babies everywhere! This past week Sawyer has decided he is ready to sit up by himself. He looks so big now. I almost can't remember what it was like for him to be a little baby.
Parent child dedication was this past Sunday at church. My dad was able to preach the sermon so Saw got some good Nana and Grandad time. The weather couldn't have been any more beautiful. It almost felt like fall. Now we're just waiting on Sam and Will to get here again!

Hughes Girl Cousins!

Last week Sawyer was able to spend a few days with Kaylee, Staci, and Morgan. It was nice for me because I got a lot of cleaning done but bad because now I'm deprogramming him from his I get all the attention all the time phase. It's worth it because he LOVES to play with them. Last night he saw a little girl with blond hair and he reached for her. It's crazy that he may already be associating that with his girls!

His Choices

I realized today that I'm starting to make personality choices for Sawyer that probably don't mirror his preferences. This may seem silly since he is only 5 1/2 months old, however if I continue this pattern I may turn into a very controlling mom that I don't want to be. So, this is what happened. He has a lot of toys that are animals and I have unintentionally made giraffes and monkeys his "favorite animals". I have even caught myself saying, "monkeys are his favorite". How is that possible to know when all he can say right now is "dih dih dih mah mah mah". When shopping I catch myself gravitating to all things giraffe and monkey. We just bought a new pair of pj's, and yes they have monkeys all over them! So, today I commit to backing off of the "this is his favorite" and allowing him to pick his appropriate favorites. Back off momma!

I got the shakes!

Sawyer has a new trick. To try to keep from going to sleep he shakes his head back and forth really fast. Writing in words doesn't even begin to explain how funny he looks when he does this. It's almost like he's thinking "I can't got to sleep, I can't go to sleep, I can't go to sleep". He makes us laugh all the time! Even though I'm worn out from a week of trying to keep him happy (we think he's teething), I wouldn't want to miss this mom experience.

Ist Father's Day

Today was Ryan's first Father's Day. Sawyer went to mom and dad's on Friday and we went to their house on Saturday to spend the rest of the weekend with them. Come to find out, Sawyer's gums had been bothering him all weekend and Dad's remedy was a blue popsicle which he loved! He gets to do crazy stuff at Grandad's house. Sawyer now has a swing at his house, Grandad and Nana's house, and Grammy's house!

Family Fun

Right now I'm playing tag with two boys who are trying to take a nap! Sawyer and I are with Sam and Will today and it's nap time. They started out in the bed together, but they were laughing so hard we had to separate or Sawyer was going to wake up. Will is so funny when I ask him not to do something he looks at me with that sweet WIll WIll face and says "OK Karlyn". I'm so glad that Sawyer has big cousins and little cousins to grow up with. I didn't get a chance to be with my cousins much when I was growing up, and I missed out on a lot. Thanks God for time with family!

Sawyer got to watch his second ballgame yesterday. We went to Forrest City to watch Kyle play. He didn't watch much because he had a lot of catching up to do with Morgan, Staci, Kaylee, Aunt Christy, Nana and Grandad. He was so tired by the time we left. He loves his family.

7th Anniversay

Yesterday was our seventh anniversary. I have to say it was probably the best ever and we didn't even do anything amazing. It was just a day at home with Ryan and Sawyer and I really needed that. Thanks God for a relaxing day.

Today, Sawyer is 5 months old. It's so strange how he changes each month. Yesterday, I noticed him doing several things he hasn't done before. For instance, he was laying on his mat playing with his hanging toys and he was hitting and kicking them like he was a boxer! It was hilarious. Then when I had him sitting up I noticed him using his arms and hands to bang his legs like Jada did. Fun Fun times!

First prescription and cold

Well, we have made it through our first cold. Last Sunday Sawyer began a runny nose and then a funky eye. We got 2 prescriptions and we have a much happier baby. Although his unhappy was still very bearable, even though mom didn't get much sleep the first three nights. I'm not good at sleeping on the couch and the bathroom floor!
We survived Sawyer's first Bible School week. He got a lot of Teresa and La Fern time! Sam and Will are here and they got to come to VBS also. I think they had a great time. Right now they're playing with me in the pool room singing "Yes Jesus Loves Me". I love my Sam and Will time!

After 4 months...

After 4 months of not posting I'm finally back on. The blog wouldn't let me log on and we finally got it to work. Sawyer has grown so much and has gone through several milestones. Rolling over, eating baby food, sleeping all night, playing with toys, and recognizing familiar people.
Jennifer, Sam, and Will left yesterday to go back home. They were here for Tessa's graduation. Saw got lots of kisses from both boys. I can't believe how much those boys love their Saw and Jada. It's going to be so fun to watch all of them grow up together. Work ends this week and I'm so ready to be back at home with Sawyer! I feel like I've missed a lot.
Note to Joan and Christy... the pic of me and Sawyer with the roses in the background - those are Mammaw's roses!
Jennifer asked me if my first Mother's Day was special and I told her not really, but after thinking about it that's not true. It was very special because I spent the day with family and took a nap with Sawyer and played with him and Ryan all day. What more special could I ask for? So Jennifer, if you asked me that question again my answer would be very different. Tomorrow is Monday and I love Mondays!

Jada's first week in Almyra

Jada's first week home has been pretty exciting, even though Sawyer slept through most of it! Sam and Will had a pretty good time talking to her and helping aunt Rachel keep Jada awake. Jonathan and Rachel are trying to get her on Central Standard Time instead of Lebanese time! She's almost there.
Sawyer is almost a month old. Time has flown and it doesn't seem possible. He's changed a lot and if his cheeks get any bigger his daddy will have to invent something to keep them off the floor!

Jada's Home

Jonathan, Rachel, and Jada finally made it home Saturday evening. We were all waiting for them at the airport. Their flight was delayed a little so we got to watch Sam and Will run around for a while asking "Where's JaJa?". Jada is precious. She has the longest eyelashes I've ever seen. They reach up to her eyebrows! Sawyer slept through the whole airport adventure so he hasn't played with Jada yet! Watch out Jada he'll come alive soon!

Crazy Week

We dropped Jonathan and Rachel off at the airport last Saturday to send them on their way to get Jada!!! Pretty exciting, soon there will be another baby around! After Sawyer got to spend the afternoon with my family we got home and I get sick! Thought it was the flu but luckily not! Little did we know that 8 hours ahead of us Jada and Rachel were sick also! Today we found out that they hopefully will be home Saturday! Come home soon we're ready to see you!

Dr. visit

We took Sawyer to the doc today to be weighed. When we came home from the hospital he weighed 7lbs 13 oz. Now at two weeks old he weighs 9lbs 11 oz. I knew he was filling out and getting some chunky cheeks but I had no idea he had gained nearly 2 lbs! At this rate we could have a big boy on our hands!

Thursday, January 25, 2007

Sawyer is now 2 weeks old. These two weeks have flown, even with very little night time sleep and lots of day time naps! He is growing very fast and getting chunky monkey cheeks! He's smiling a lot and we aren't sure if it's because he thinks we're that funny or he's very gassy! Newborns are fun!

Sawyer's Arrival

After 21 hours of labor and a decision to have a C-section Sawyer Joseph Hillman arrived at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock 7:52 pm Thursday January 11th. He weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces, 21 inches long, head 14 1/2 inches, and 13 1/2 inches for his chest. He has dark brown wavy hair (like his daddy's) , Karlyn's nose, and long fingers and toes! He is a perfect little gift!

Finally!!! It takes me a while to figure out out these crazy slide shows! I hope you enjoy a glimpse of our Christmas!

Christmas 2006

Hopefully soon we will have some New Year pictures with Sawyer. For now you have to look at the two of us!

Still waiting not so patiently

Our appointment at the dr. showed no change. So the plan is to wait and see if I go into labor and if not we induce on the 17th!. Yes I wrote the 17th! Much longer than I'm prepared to wait! So, I'm praying that this little boy decides he is ready to come now!

Waiting Patiently

January 4, 2007

Sawyer missed the full moon last night! We were hoping that would do the trick but it seems we're still waiting on the 7th to get here. Dr. appointment tomorrow, fingers crossed for progress!
